What is de-sulphation and why is our process superior?


Traction Direct were one of the very first companies to develop the car battery de-sulphation process in the 1980s, but our system has an added benefit that other chargers don’t offer.


WHAT IS DE-SULPHATION

When a battery is left unchanged or not fully charged for long periods of time, deposits of lead sulphur form on the lead plates and harden over time, inhibiting the performance of the battery.

The desulphator breaks down the sulphur that has built up and dissolves it. It does this by passing voltage or high-frequency pulses to zap the sulphates. The electricity loosens the sulphates and they then drop into the battery acid and dissolve. This process results in no harm to the battery.

De-sulphation will restore the battery to full capacity, thus increasing its performance and durability. In our experience this conditioning process is very successful at extending the life of an automotive battery.
