Battery Charger with Constant Output Mode MPL CO

MPL - CO 12volt battery charger with built in constant power facility

Designed to help technicians with diagnostics on vehicles fitted with ECU’s. It provides a constant power source to maintain the battery charge during ‘Key on, Engine off’ diagnostics such as fault code reading and ECU re-programming, when loss of battery power will cause failure of the diagnostic procedure. Just connect the charger and select constant power, switch on and the charger will deliver.

  • Maximum continuous output 30 amps (constant output mode)
  • Charge programme selector switch, choose the correct charging programme
  • Conventional battery charging, Calcium/Calcium, Calcium/Silver battery charging, Constant power output.
  • Patented Sulphation recovery programme to restore and charge sulphated batteries
  • Soft start current control to prevent damage to Calcium battery types
  • Constant Power , delivers only the power the battery needs to maintain charge, no over charging, no damage
  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Short circuit shutdown without blown fuse
  • Microprocessor controlled to prevent gassing, and deliver the correct amount of charge automatically.
  • Float mode ensures that the battery charge is maintained indefinitely without over charging or damage

Technical Information

Patented Sulphation Recovery Programme

At the start of each charge the MPL tests the battery to determine if it is deeply discharged or if sulphation has occurred and then applies the correct recovery programme. The MPL will start charging even if the battery is discharged down to 1 volt

Soft Start

Prevents a high inrush of current to small and partially discharged batteries at the beginning of the charging process, to minimise plate surface charging and heating and consequent damage to the battery

Proportional Timing

Varies the second (constant voltage) stage in proportion to the time taken for the first stage (constant current). This allows optimal charging by ensuring sufficient gassing to prevent stratification by mixing the electrolyte thoroughly and eliminating overcharging (an effect that can happen with fixed charge timers). The result is lower electrolyte loss and reduced battery maintenance.

Constant Voltage Float

After the charging cycle has been completed the MPL switches into standby mode which compensates for self discharge and holds the battery at peak charge ready for use indefinitely without overcharging

The led ladder ammeter

Provides accurate charging indication and is more efficient, more rugged and more reliable than a conventional analogue ammeter

Short circuit shutdown

Prevents damage to the charger if the d.c. output is short circuited, or if the battery is connected with wrong polarity, without blowing fuses

Available in 110/220 & 240 volt input models
